At $213 per day, a one year stay in a nursing home will cost $77,745.  Given the typical nursing home stay of three years, that's over $230,000 at today's costs.  These amounts are expected to rise significantly in the future.

Those choosing home care will find costs to be similar depending on what type of care is needed and how many hours during the day.
